Overview

Located in the heart of Oklahoma City, George's Happy Hog Bar-B-Q stands as a genuine refuge for barbecue lovers seeking authentic, smoked flavors. Nestled at 712 Culbertson Dr, this barbecue joint delivers a no-frills yet deeply satisfying dining experience that captures the essence of traditional American smokehouse fare.

George’s specializes in classic smoked meats, with brisket, ribs, and pulled pork acting as the cornerstone of its menu. Each dish showcases a slow-cooked mastery, where the bark on the brisket offers a perfect balance between chew and tenderness, while the rib ends and rib tips parade layers of rich, smoky goodness. For those looking to explore, the Hog’s 4 Meat Sampler is an ideal choice—offering a robust taste of the restaurant’s specialties in one plate.

The sides complement the meats flawlessly with their creamy mac and cheese, baked beans, and fresh greens adding relief and balance. Cornbread, coleslaw, and corn on the cob further emphasize the traditional Southern barbecue influence here. Desserts like German chocolate cake and pecan pie reveal a sweet finish that stays true to the homestyle vibe.

Beyond the menu, George’s Happy Hog delivers an atmosphere that is unassuming yet warm. The modest, well-worn setting is imbued with the smoky aroma of the kitchen, greeting guests with an inviting simplicity. It fosters a family-friendly, casual environment where the focus is on the quality of food and community spirit rather than elaborate decor.

Ordering here is streamlined and efficient—counter service keeps the flow steady during busy times. The friendly staff enhance the experience, providing quick service without sacrificing the warm, personal touch. A word of advice: arriving early, especially before noon, can help you skip the inevitable wait, as word about this place spreads fast.

My wife and I have enjoyed eating barbecue at George's Happy Hog for many years. I realized today that I haven't written a review. Shame on me. I usually have brisket because it is so good, but today I had the Just Right Rib Sandwich. The rib meat was so delicious that it'll make you want to swallow your tongue! I loved the potato salad. My wife's baked beans must have been tasty because I was afraid that I would get a fork stuck in my hand if I tried to take some. Next time I will order a meal with two sides. That might be safer.

Back in April we ran into a sweet gentleman in Sam’s club who had a George’s Happy Hog BBQ shirt on.we had struck up a brief conversation because we kept running into each other. I took a pic of his shirt and we finally got around to eating there today. Best decision ever! Great family atmosphere and phenomenal bbq. Highly recommend the ribs and hot links. And the bbq sauce? That hot bbq sauce hit the right spot! Fantastic prices and you get more than what you pay for.

This is one of my regular places for some of the best Q in OKC. Be sure to get there before noon as there will be a constant line nearly out the front door. Pay attention whilst you are in line because you order at the counter. The young lady behind the register is as sweet as the tea, but those folks making orders ain’t got time for you to think about it too long, they got awesome BBQ to put out the door. George’s Happy Hog reminds me of the Cozy Corner in Memphis. I’ve tried several of the sides here, so trust me when I tell ya, just order the beans, you won’t be disappointed. The mild sauce is the way to go, the hot is VERY HOT! As far as the meats go, my favorite are the rib ends, brisket, and ribs of course. The smoke sausage is good, and the smoked bologna rivals Central BBQ in Memphis. The place smells like a smokehouse because it is! Go to George’s, have some BBQ, and watch out for politicians, the capitol is right around the corner! And they know how good this place is.

Alright, let's talk about Happy Hog BBQ in OKC. Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you – this place is a serious contender for some of the best barbecue in the city. It's the kind of spot you might drive past a hundred times without realizing the deliciousness that lies within. Think of it as a true "hole in the wall" gem, the kind of place where the focus is squarely on the food, and they absolutely nail it. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by that unmistakable smoky aroma that instantly gets your mouth watering. The atmosphere is down-to-earth and unpretentious, likely with well-worn tables and chairs, and maybe even a bit of a line forming – a good sign, in my book! But let's get to the real star of the show: the barbecue. Happy Hog doesn't mess around. Their meats are cooked low and slow, achieving that perfect balance of smoky flavor, tender texture, and juicy goodness. Whether you go for their ribs, pulled pork, brisket, or sausage, you can taste the care and expertise that goes into each cut. The bark on their brisket is legendary, offering a satisfying chew before giving way to incredibly moist meat. And the pulled pork? Forget about needing sauce – it's flavorful enough to stand on its own, though their sauce is a welcome addition for those who like a little extra tang or sweetness. The sides, while perhaps not the main event, are definitely more than an afterthought. You can expect classic BBQ accompaniments done right – creamy coleslaw, hearty mac and cheese, smoky baked beans, and maybe even some perfectly crisp fries. They complement the richness of the meat without trying to steal the spotlight. Now, being a hole-in-the-wall, don't expect fancy plating or a sprawling drink menu. The charm of Happy Hog lies in its simplicity and dedication to quality. You come here for the authentic barbecue experience, and that's exactly what you get. In short, if you're looking for fantastic, no-frills barbecue in Oklahoma City, Happy Hog BBQ is a must-try. Don't be intimidated by its humble appearance; the incredible flavors coming out of that kitchen speak volumes. It's the kind of place that locals know and love, and once you've tried it, you'll understand why. Just be prepared for a potentially small space and a focus on the food – you won't be disappointed.

Great food. Friendly staff. And phenomenal prices. You can get great BBQ in the city for less than 20 and it always hits. My fav is the bologna dinner. With two sides I usually have some left over for a late afternoon snack. Get here early because the lunch line can be long.

We went to the city to pick our boys up from their flight and we stopped inside this place for the first time. It is the best BBQ in Oklahoma in my opinion. It puts my hometown's BBQ to shame. The minute you walk in you can tell the food is going to be awesome with the delicious smell in the air. We all ordered different things and every item did not disappoint. It was soo good, that I had to order another dinner just because I'm not in the city often and I was sad to have to leave such an awesome place. I'll be making more trips to the city purely because of this restaurant. Can't get enough of it. 10/10

Some of the best BBQ I know of. They make their own smoked sausage. I went for lunch and git the Big Brisket lunch with the mixed green. There green are out of this world. The Brisket was sliced thick and piled high on my sandwich. I was one happy camper when I left.
